A local Fairway Independent Mortgage branch in Danvers, Massachusetts, partnered with the American Warrior Initiative (AWI) to honor a U.S. veteran with a service dog. Along with this event, a residential housing “Boot Camp” was held to train real estate professionals and mortgage planners on how to handle the home purchase needs of active duty and military veterans with excellence. This was one of three events held in the New England area that partnered with Operation Delta Dog. The other two events were held in Bedford and Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
The honoree at this wonderful event was a U.S. military veteran suffering from PTSD that causes panic attacks and fainting. Fairway and AWI were able to collaborate with Operation Delta Dog to honor this veteran with a $10,000 grant to purchase and train a service dog that will assist in sensing panic attacks before they happen.
Branch Manager Mike Galatis was thrilled to have been part of such a great event. He said:
“Louise Thaxton and the entire AWI crew were truly remarkable at educating our local Realtor network on how to work for, communicate [with], and facilitate real estate transactions for veterans. Fairway Newburyport in partnership with Operation Delta Dog made it possible to assist in sponsoring three service dogs for well-deserving veterans in need. Blessed to be part of Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation and to have the opportunity to serve those who serve.”
Operation Delta Dog is a Massachusetts-based organization that rescues homeless dogs from shelters and breed-rescue groups, and trains them to work as service dogs with local veterans who are suffering with TBI and PTSD.
Founded by Louise Thaxton and Sean Parnell, the American Warrior Initiative is a non-profit organization sponsored by Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation, which seeks to ease the transition for U.S. veterans between military and civilian life.
I am proud to work for a company that does so much to honor those who sacrifice for our country. If I can help answer any questions about VA loans or any other home loan options, give me a call.
